Tensions rise in the Arctic

Norway has decided to relocate its military centre closer to the Arctic Circle, a move that highlights the growing strategic importance of this resource rich- region. Russia, which has identified the Arctic as a source of potential conflict has also made its intentions clear by creating two army brigades to protect its polar interests. Canada is scheduled to start its most extensive military training operation in the region this summer.
