Disagreement over nuclear plant tests

EU member states disagree on the content of the nuclear power plant stress test proposal. In its current form, the proposal would not include a test simulating an airplane crash into the plants. EU countries are debating whether to include man-made disasters, such as an attack with a hijacked plane into the testing scheme. Energy commissioner Gunther Oettinger, initiator of the stress test, told reporters the question on the inclusion of plane crashes is still open.

Europol to get more powers
The EU police agency Europol is to see its powers expand and its performance come under greater scrutiny as part of a European Commission proposal set out on Wednesday 27th March. 

Under the draft regulation member states would be required to provide the agency with more data and improve their cooperation on cross-border crimes and investigations. “The EU needs an effective and cost-efficient agency to help member states fight serious cross-border crime and terrorism,” EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström said in a statement.

A joint India-UK taskforce on cyber-security is to be created to combat cyber-crime. UK Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to finalise the deal during meetings with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Sing later today, marking the first time talks on cyber-security have been held between the two leaders.

Microsoft and Symantec disrupt cyber crime operation
Microsoft and Symantec have disrupted a global cyber crime operation which was controlling hundreds of thousands of computers, unbeknownst to their owners. 
A raid on data centres in New Jersey and Virginia was carried out on February 6th, by technicians from both companies, accompanied by US federal marshalls.
