Netherlands to install border surveillance

The Dutch government is planning to install an automatic video-surveillance system at 15 major border crossing points with Germany and Belgium as of 1 January 2012. This was confirmed by the country’s migration ministry. According to the ministry, the aim of this measure is to detect cross-border crimes such as human trafficking and illegal migration.

A new partnership for European Security

On 10th of February 2011, the Security and Defence Agenda (SDA) and the European Organisation for Security (EOS) organised a conference to discuss the future of European security. The conference welcomed more than 20 speakers and 200 participants from both sides of the public-private divide. The debates centered on the implementation of the European Internal Security Strategy focusing on four principle areas: border security, disaster control and civil protection, cybersecurity and transport security.
