Kerry calls on NATO in Syria

Israel and US claims on Syria’s use of chemical weapons have prompted US Secretary of State John Kerry to say that NATO may have a role in the Syrian crisis and that it should assess its preparedness to respond to a potential chemical weapons threat.

In response, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned Western nations against supporting rebel groups; the militants will one day strike the US and others, according to CNN.

Syria meanwhile hacked the Associated Press's Twitter account and falsely announced that explosions at the White House had injured President Obama. The false report sunk the Dow Jones Industrial average more than 100 points and the Standard & Poor's 500 by $136.5 billion.
