South Korea to buy eight Sikorsky helicopters from U.S.
South Korea is to purchase eight Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopters from the U.S. The advanced multi-purpose maritime helicopters, costing approximately $554.1 million, will be tasked with containing North Korean submarines and naval surface vessels. The helicopters can also be used for search and rescue operations and diverse types of warfare, and were chosen ahead of the AW-195 Wildcat helicopters of the Anglo-Italian company AgustaWestland.
