Russian Navy to hold large-scale exercise

02/01/2013
Russia’s four main naval fleets – the Northern, Baltic, Black Sea and Pacific - will hold a large-scale joint exercise in late January, according to the Russian Defence Ministry. The large-scale drills will be the Russian Navy’s first in the past few decades and will be conducted under the Russian Armed Forces 2013 combat training plan. The aim of the drill is to conduct troop exercises of different branches to improve inter-operability of the fleets in the far-off maritime zones. The exercise will also include operations simulating the unloading of paratroopers and marine troops from the North Caucasus coast onto amphibious ships.
