Spanish police arrests Anonymous hackers
The Spanish police arrested four hackers suspected to be members of the hacktivist group ‘Anonymous’. The four arrested are accused of defacing websites, carrying out denial-of-service attacks and publishing personal data of policemen in charge of protecting the Spanish royal family and the prime minister. The website of the Spanish police fell victim to a cyber-attack last summer, which was allegedly launched in retaliation for the arrest of three Spanish members of Anonymous. The group is responsible for various politically motivated attacks on the websites of organisations including Sony, the UK Serious Organised Crime Agency and PayPal, and is investigated by the UK Metropolitan Police, FBI and Interpol.
How can international law enforcement agencies be strengthened to fight cyber-crime? This is only one of the questions to be discussed in the cyber-security forum of the 2012 Security Jam. Register today to be part of this massive online brainstorm from 19 to 23 March!
